A Little of This and That
Who knows what is going to show up on this page. I plan to use it to offer special one-of-a-kind products or great deals throughout the year.
I'm often inspired to try something new, but rarely make any of these things because I have no way to let people see them. I am hoping to put some of those items here.
From time to time, we have finished an order and then find out the client has changed his or her mind about purchasing it. This page will give us a place to offer them to our other clients.

We have a good supply of silver mounted headstalls on hand. We took some of
these to The Californios this year, so if you didn't get to go, you now have
an opportunity to shop.
Also, for a limited time (until 31 December 09), receive a silver cleaning kit free with the purchase of any of the silver mounted headstalls listed below. The kit includes a Sunshine cloth for polishing silver, two buckle cleaning guards in sizes to fit the buckles on the headstall, a screw back concho cleaning holder and a loop back holder for concho cleaning. Look here for a photo. |

#150-9 This rounded headstall is made out of dark brown English bridle leather and is decorated with 1-1/2" sterling overlay Tahoe conchos at the browband and matching 3/4" conchos at the bit end. It adjusts with a 5/8" sterling overlay Abilene buckle between the ears and has a matching 1/2" buckle on the throatlatch. $389 |

#142-9 This black mock round headstall is classy in its simplicity. The 1-3/4" sterling overlay conchos at the browband compliment the 1/2" sterling overlay oval center bar buckles between the ears and at the throatlatch. Understated 3/8" overlay conchos finish the look at the bit. $319 |
|

#144-9 This medium brown headstall fastens with a 5/8" sterling overlay point and scallop center bar buckle buckle between the ears. The sterling overlay conchos are engraved in a unique bright cut style. There are 1-3/4" conchos at the browband, 1/2" conchos at the bit and three 3/8" bright cut conchos up each cheek. The look is completed with a 1/2" point and scallop center bar buckle at the throatlatch. $340 |

#148-9 I really like the 1-3/4" Kansas conchos on this rounded dark brown headstall. At first they look like any other pico edge concho, but a closer look at the engraving shows the difference. There is a matching 3/4" concho at the swelled bit ends. It fastens between the ears with a #5 buckle and there is a matching 1/2" buckle at the throatlatch. All conchos and buckles are sterling silver overlay. This headstall is further decorated with 14 solid sterling silver ferrules (five on each cheek and four across the browband). $585 |
|

#149-9 This rounded dark brown headstall also has 1-3/4" pico conchos at the browband, but attaches to the bit with CM bit hangers. The conchos, bit hangers and buckle sets are sterling overlay. The buckle between the ears is a 5/8" horseshoe buckle and there is a matching 1/2" horseshoe buckle on the throatlatch. Twelve solid sterling silver ferrules brighten the look of this headstall. $683 |

#216-9 Sometimes it just takes a little silver to make an ordinary headstall extraordinary. This is one of our chestnut 5/8" stock headstalls with stainless steel #132 buckles. The extraordinary part are the 2" sterling overlay octagon conchos at the browband. Leather ties attach this headstall at the bit. $183 |
|
#163-9 For those folks who like a little more bling, these 2-1/2" smooth scallop edge sterling overlay conchos might be just the thing. The headstall is one of our stock medium brown 5/8" models with stainless steel #132 buckles on each cheek and at the throatlatch. Leather ties at the bit make for a secure attachment. $194 |
|
#217-9 There is nothing quiet or subdued about this piece of headgear, which is why I love it! The headstall is 5/8" wide and has oval 5/8" sterling overlay center bar buckles on both cheeks. There is a matching 1/2" buckle at the throatlatch. The conchos are also sterling overlay and are stunning. The pair at the browband are 2-1/2" across and feature a unique rope edge. The 3/4" matching conchos at the bit are set off by the slightly swelled ends of the cheek pieces. $408 |
|
#218-9 Shy used a gorgeous dark brown appliqué to dress up this 5/8" chestnut headstall. The buckles are style #132 in stainless steel. Large 1-3/4" sterling overlay Oakdale conchos draw the eye to the braid work on the browband. It attaches to the bit with dark brown leather ties. $231 |
|
#220-9 For those of you who don't care for the points on a pico edge concho, these might be just the ticket. The scalloped edge sterling overlay conchos at the browband are 1-3/4" and the matching concho buckles are 1-1/2" across. These conchos are actual buckles, not conchos covering buckles. The engraving is more the traditional Visalia style from the 1940s or so. This 5/8 " chestnut headstall has coordinating 1/2" conchos at the bit and a 1/2" horseshoe buckle on the throat latch. All of the conchos and buckles are sterling overlay. $344 |
|
#229-9 Here are more of the scallop edge Visalia style conchos, just on a slightly larger scale than on the headstall above. The conchos at the browband are 2-1/2" across and the concho buckles measure 1-3/4". There is a 1/2" horseshoe buckle on the throatlatch and 1/2" scalloped conchos at the bit. The headstall is 5/8" wide and made from dark brown English bridle leather. All of the silver on this piece is sterling silver overlay. $468 |
|
#224-9 UFO conchos are another one of my favorites. They have a very distinctive three dimensional look. These UFOs are 1-3/4" across and are sterling silver overlay. The headstall is 5/8" wide and made from dark brown English bridle leather. The buckles on the cheeks and throatlatch are style #132 and are stainless steel. Leather ties fasten it to the bit. $185 |
|
#226-9 I think this medium brown 3/4" headstall would look great on any snaffle bit. It's dressed up with 2" bubble conchos at the browband and matching 1" conchos at the swelled bit ends of the cheeks. The buckle sets on both cheeks and the throatlatch also have raised silver bubbles. All of the silver is sterling overlay. $404 |
|
Nothing says California bridle horse more than a split ear headstall. This
one is chestnut English bridle leather sewn with matching thread. The
sterling overlay buckles on each side look like miniature horseshoes. These
buckles are definitely on my list of favorites. There are four sterling overlay
high dome conchos on each cheek. These measure 3/8", 1/2", 5/8",
and 3/4".
$326 |
|
#227-9 This 5/8" burgundy headstall is subtly set off from the herd by the whiskey-colored appliqué across the browband. The 2" sterling overlay Oakdale conchos add some shine as well. Coordinating leather ties form the bit attachment and the buckles are stainless steel. $258 |
|
#223-9 I think this three piece concho buckle set is the highlight of this black 5/8" headstall. The concho buckle is 1-3/4" across and the matching browband conchos are 2". the same style concho in a 5/8" size is at the bit. The throatlatch buckle is a 1/2" center bar oval. All of the silver is sterling overlay. $369 |
|
#230-9 I've heard these called sawtooth conchos, but they deserve a better name. The sterling overlay conchos at the browband of this 5/8" dark brown headstall are 2" across and the matching ones at the bit are 5/8". It also features sterling overlay #5 buckle sets on the cheeks and at the throatlatch. $321 |
|
#139-9 These are some of my favorite bridle buckles and I love how they look on this 5/8" chestnut headstall. At the browband are 2" flat flange conchos and 1/2" high dome conchos are at the bit. All of the silver trim is sterling overlay. $398 |
|
#138-9 Scallops are everywhere on this chestnut 5/8" headstall. The browband conchos are 1-3/4" and 1/2" matching conchos are at the bit, Both cheeks and throatlatch are dressed up with scalloped buckles. All trim is sterling silver overlay. $335 |
|
#131-9 This one has a lot of flash. It is 5/8" wide and made of dark brown English bridle leather. The 2- 5/8" California conchos at the browband are sterling overlay and jeweler's bronze. Matching California buckles adorn both cheeks and the throatlatch. The conchos at the the bit are 1/2" sterling overlay high domes. $312 |
|

I'm calling these headstalls A Little Fancier Than Stock. Some are a different design, others are made from a different leather and a few have a little silver plate trim on them.
I call this one a mock round headstall. It buckles between the ears like
most of our rounded headstalls, but the cheeks and throatlatch are edged
round rather than rolled. It looks great on any bridle bit, and is elegant
in it's simplicity. This one is chestnut English bridle leather, sports
stainless steel #132 buckles, and has leather ties at the browband and bit.

Shy enjoys making purses and it shows in her unique designs. Here are the only ones we have on hand right now.
I love the elegant, flowing, asymmetrical line Shy used on the top of this
alligator purse. You could carry it in the city or the country and never
look out of place. The single handle is folded leather, giving it some
shoulder padding. The open top allows for easy access, but the length of the
handle prevents someone from reaching in when it is over your shoulder. This
bag is 9" wide, 6-3/4" high at the lowest point of the top edge
and has a 3-3/4" wide gusset.
$250 |
|
Shy designed this hair-on cowhide purse to give the wearer two different
looks. The photo at left shows one side and the photo below features the
other side of the bag. This purse has two handles made of English bridle
leather and they are each attached with two sterling overlay conchos. This
bag is 9-1/4" wide, 8-1/4" tall and has a 3-3/4" gusset. Shy
designed the gusset to keep the top of the purse closed while it is being
carried.
$205 |
|
The reverse side of the purse shown above.
This purse was a collaborative effort. I did the stamping and Shy came up
with the rein chain handle. She had been mulling the idea over for awhile
and in came to life on this project. The purse is open topped (no flap) and has the same
stamping pattern on both sides. The strap is attached with two 1/2"sterling
overlay high dome
conchos on each end of the top strap and there are two more high dome
conchos attaching the rein chains to the gusset. I've been carrying a purse very similar to
this one for the last six years and absolutely love it. This purse measures
6-5/8" high, 4-3/4" wide at the narrowest point and the gusset is
3-3/4" wide. $255 |
|
Shy has been coming up with some wonderful home decor ideas. Although they aren't all to the Available point, we thought we'd tempt you with these for the time being.
Shy's spur strap curtain tie backs are a wonderfully original design that
will bring a western look to any room. They are available as a single tie
back shown at left or in matched pairs as shown below. All are made out of
Wickett and Craig English bridle leather and feature a stainless steel
buckle.
These are somewhat adjustable to fit different types of curtains and drapes, but it would be helpful to know if you intend to use them on heavy or sheer material. Shy will put a slightly shorter back strap on them if you are intending to use them on sheer curtains. She has more of these in progress, so Christmas delivery shouldn't be a problem if you would like a custom pair or single tie back. |

This string of brass bells is sure to add Christmas cheer to any house. It
also lets you know when people leave or enter the house or barn. I've seen
lots of these in catalogs, but was always appalled at the poor construction
and materials.
So when I made these, I used heavy cast solid brass sleigh bells in graduated sizes for the most pleasing tone. The dee at the top is large enough to fit over a standard door knob. The leather is black English bridle leather and the back side of the door hanger is completely covered with leather to protect the finish on your door. $63 |
|
For those of you who use spurs, or just like to display them complete with straps, we have a nice variety that should suit any taste.
This is a beautiful pair of Montana bib spur straps. They are basket stamped chestnut English bridle
leather with a #132 stainless steel buckle. The conchos are 2" sterling overlay with a flat
flange edge to resist snagging on ropes or brush.
$185 |
|
I really enjoy making inlaid spur straps. This pair features a medium brown
Congo frog skin for the inlay material. The buckles are sterling overlay
ovals and the 1-3/4" flat flange edge conchos are sterling overlay as
well.

Not everyone wants a fancy pair of spur straps. For those looking for
functional rather than fancy, take a look at the next few items. These
straps are all made of heavy latigo. Some are lined and some aren't, but all
will give years of service. All are of average length and will fit most
spurs. There is only one pair available of each style shown below.

We have plenty of curb straps and bit hobbles in stock.
Most of these are designs we've been making for at least a couple of years,
but we do have a larger selection of colors.
Bit hobbles are used on snaffle bits to prevent the bit from being pulled through the horse's mouth. These are usually a fixed length because they require very little, if any, adjustment to do the job. Curb straps are used on a shanked (leverage) bit as part of the leverage system. These must be adjustable because each bit and each horse is different. Most people just use the term "curb strap" to refer to both, so if one of our designs can only be used as a bit hobble, I mention that in the item description so our customers can make informed choices. |
|
Here is a curb strap design I call the Cowboy curb strap. Many working cowboys use some variation of this as it is simple yet functional. It looks a lot like a grass knot curb strap, but the small piece of leather in the center allows it to be adjusted so the two tails are always the same length. These are available in both snaffle and bridle bit length, so please specify which you prefer. Colors available- from top to bottom- Tan, dark brown, burgundy and black Snaffle length- $13 |
|
We now offer our Signature curb straps in the four colors shown above in the
photo of the Cowboy curb straps. We have some on hand in all four
colors.
Remember these curb straps are really bit hobbles and the length can't be adjusted after they are made, so they are suitable only for snaffle bits. If you need a shorter bit hobble for a smaller horse, we would be happy to make a custom one that will fit properly. $18 |
|
Burgundy and tan Manx curbs. These are a clean simple bit hobble. I call
them Manx because like the Manx cat, they don't have the tails that our
Signature curbs do. These are also available in burgundy, tan, dark brown and black.
Burgundy and tan are shown in the photo at left.
$16 |
|
I've been having some fun with curb straps and bit hobbles lately. This is
an interesting little single button bit hobble made out of Indian tan. We
have them available in burgundy, dark brown, black and tan.
$10 |
|
Here is yet another single button bit hobble. This one attaches to one
ring of the snaffle and then runs loosely through the other ring. The
design allows the one side to be unbuttoned and swung away to help a horse
learn to pick up a snaffle bit. I call this one the Swing Away (for
obvious reasons). Available in burgundy, dark brown, black or tan.
$10 |
|
Here's another curb strap. I call this one the bleed center curb because of
the long bleed knot in the middle. They can be used on either a snaffle or
on a shank bit. Please specify snaffle or bridle length. Available in black,
dark brown,
burgundy or tan.
Snaffle length $17 |

We have a couple of different night latch offerings now.
The last time I made some rounded headstalls, I got to thinking about how
nice it would be to have a
rolled night latch. These are the result. The rounded leather is very firm
and holds the night latch open so it is easy to get ahold of. I have only
three available and they are the ones shown in the photo. From left the
right; tan, chestnut and dark brown.
Tan and chestnut- $42 |
|
Shy restocked our regular flat night latches the other day, so we have
some in each color shown available for immediate shipment. All of the night
latches in stock have stainless steel buckles, but they can be made with
brass buckles also.
Chestnut or tan- $20 |
|
I don't usually have any martingales in stock, and there is only one of these available now.
Here's just the thing for someone with a rough out or half breed saddle- a
rough out martingale. The hardware is stainless steel, with the exception of
the locking alligator snaps on the neck strap and on the strap to the cinch.
Since the snap is only made out of manganese bronze, that's what you
get. This martingale is fully lined with the same sweat-resistant
leather as our headstalls.

I'm often asked about cleaning and conditioning
products, so I decided to offer some of the same products we use in the shop
and on our personal gear. I have chosen these based on lots of experiments
and in-the-field testing.
Here's a detailed description of each product. Just click on the product name to see the pictures and prices listed a little further down this page. Bee Natural's Leather Amore is a nice light cleaner and conditioner. Best on lightly soiled items and can be used on boots, shoes, leather furniture with a shiny finish, automobile upholstery, as well as tack. It will slightly darken leather with a naked finish, including the veg tan leather used to make saddles. This won't darken things nearly as much as any oil will. Don't use it on suede as it will pack the fibers down and your suede won't be suede anymore, but I've used it a lot on rough out leather and liked the result. Rudy's, also by Bee Natural, is very much like Leather Amore, but it contains fungicides to inhibit mold growth. My customers who have tried this product to keep the mold off of their tack have been very pleased with the results. For best results, clean the saddle well and then apply a coat of Rudy's. See the Leather Amore description for the types of leather to use it on. Bee Natural's #1 Saddle Oil with Fungicides is another product to inhibit mold growth. This is a heavier conditioner than Rudy's and will darken leather just like any other oil such as olive or neatsfoot oil. Not for use on suede, but works great on rough out leather. Remember that rough out leather (saddles, breast collars, martingales, etc.) needs oil too. Bee Natural's Natural Leather Cleaner and Protector are two of the most exciting leather care products I've seen lately. Many chaps, chinks and armitas as well as nearly all leather furniture is made out of analine finish chap or upholstery leather. This leather has a naked (dull) finish and will stain very easily. The lack of finish makes this leather a sponge for oil, blood, mud, water, sweat, you name it. An application of Bee Natural's Natural Leather Protector stops staining before it happens. It also makes the leather waterproof. The Natural Leather Cleaner will help remove dirt from these types of naked finished leather, but is much more effective if the leather has been treated with the Protector first. Highly recommended for elk or deer hide leggings. These products will cause very little, if any, color change. The packaging is different now than the bottles in the photo, but they are the same products. Blackrock Leather 'N' Rich is one of my favorite finishes. It's a light conditioner and finish all in one that leaves the leather with a slick, slightly glossy look that is still air permeable so the leather can breathe. I really like it on items that won't be used for awhile or will be used in a place with lots of dust. The firm, not tacky, finish allows dust to be wiped off easily. It is also great as a clear polish for shoes, boots and personal leathergoods like purses and wallets. Vince Donley's wife, Judy, says it makes black or colored rawhide look spectacular. I'm going to give it a try the next time I clean our bosals. A very small amount of Blackrock goes a long way. I apply it sparingly, let the item sit overnight and then buff with a sheepskin swatch. If it's still tacky to the touch after 48 hours, you probably used too much, so buff it again. Bee Natural Saddle Soap is not your daddy's saddle soap. This stuff is amazing. With that said, it's best on very heavily soiled or very heavily oiled leather. Don't use it if you clean your saddle more than every six months. This product excels at pulling out oil. If your used saddle was killed with kindness and over oiled before you bought it, this is the stuff to use. Remember, you will need to condition your saddle with a couple of light coats of the oil of your choice after using this soap because it will pull lots of old oil out of the leather. Don't use this on suede, but rough out leather (saddles, breast collars, martingales, etc.) does just fine with it. I also use this soap as a laundry pre-treater. Sounds crazy, but I've removed coffee, melted chocolate, spaghetti sauce, grass stains, cooking grease, barbeque sauce, ball point pen and hydraulic oil stains, just to name a few, with this stuff. Just rub it into the stain, let it sit for an hour or so and wash as usual. I personally buy it by the gallon just to keep in the laundry room. Fiebing's Glycerine Saddle Soap is your daddy's saddle soap and there's a reason this has been on the market for so long. It works. This is the best soap to use on gear that is cleaned frequently or has not been abused with too much oil. The glycerine helps retain moisture in the leather, so you can use a lighter conditioner (not necessarily an oil) after cleaning with this soap. If mold is a problem in your area, strongly consider a product like Rudy's to inhibit mold. Please don't use it on suede, but rough out leather is fine with this. Snow-Proof is a solid silicone-based waterproofing agent that will work on almost all leathers. there may be a slight color change with this product, but you'd really have to look to see it. Works great on all analine leathers, boots and shoes. Ray Holes' Vaquero Rawhide Cream is the best rawhide cleaner and conditioner we have found. It doesn't take a lot of product to do your rawhide gear a lot of good. Braided rawhide should be conditioned whenever the edges of the braided string begin to feel rough or start to look fuzzy. Sheepskin Swatches are the best applicators for light cleaners, conditioners or oil. These have been trimmed of excess wool around the edges to allow precision application of whatever product you are using. They also work great to apply and buff shoe polish. Sunshine Cloths are the handiest thing I've found to put the shine back on sterling silver or sterling overlay. These cloths are impregnated with silver polish and can be reused until they just aren't getting the job done anymore. They will blacken as they remove tarnish, but use them until they aren't taking tarnish off anymore. Unlike paste polishes, Sunshine Cloths will leave some tarnish in the bottom of the engraving cuts so your silver will still have the patina that let's people know your silver trim is the real deal. Don't use these on silver plate trim. |

Here are a few items I came up with to make
cleaning silver a little easier and a lot less messy.
No matter if you use paste silver polish or a Sunshine Cloth to polish sterling or sterling overlay, its best to remove the silver from the article it is on. If you leave it on the leather item, it's nearly impossible to keep tarnish off of the leather. I have yet to find anything that will take tarnish stains off of leather so I came up with these handy little items. Since they aren't your good tack, some tarnish stains won't hurt these a bit. |
|
I designed this to hold nearly any size of loop back concho. The loop slips
into a slot in the leather circle. The holder fits in your hand as you
polish, keeping the concho stable and the polish off of your hands. This
holder can be reused for years. The 1-3/4" concho shown is not included.
$1.50 each |
|
Conchos with Chicago screw backs are usually fairly small, which makes them
difficult to hang on to and therefore difficult to polish. This holder
secures your conchos as you polish and keeps them contained until you are
ready to put the headstall back together. The slightly curved rectangle fits
nicely in your hand and can be reused many times over. The 5/8" conchos shown are sadly not included. $1.50 each |
|
We sewn our silver buckles into our headstalls so they lay smooth against
the horse's face, but those buckles can be a real trick. I've been kicking
this idea around for nearly a year. This little guard allows full access to
the buckle while providing protection to the headstall leather. Just thread
through the buckle, snap in place, clean buckle and remove the guard. A
detailed instruction card is included.
The one in the top photo is for a heel bar buckle and the bottom photo is a guard for a center bar buckle. Available in 1/2", 5/8", 3/4" and 1" sizes. Please specify width and buckle type when ordering. We'll choose a color for you. $2.50 each |

Shy and I have restocked the rounded leather
reins and romal sets. We now have them in three different colors and even
have a few pair with rawhide knots on them. Some of these items you have
seen before and some are brand new, but I've listed them all together so you
can find them easily.
The rein to rein chain connectors are always popular and now we make them in four colors and have a new connector style as well. See the boxes below for more information and photos. |
|
Close-up of available colors for leather reins and romal.
These leather reins and romal are a great alternative to braided rawhide. They require much less care than rawhide reins and you won't have to worry about an unexpected rain shower damaging them. A downpour couldn't hurt these. They are made of two thicknesses of harness leather sewn together and then edged and worked until they are round. The romal is cut slightly wider, so it has an oval appearance rather than being round like the reins. Loops are built into the ends of the reins for rein chain attachment to the bit. This rein and romal design is not new nor are they original to us. My father saw many of these in use in the 1940s and 50s. They were quite popular with many working cowboys at that time. Tan (far right in close-up photo above)- $155 |
|
Here is a close up view of one of the flexible Indian tan connectors between the
reins and romal. The knots are kangaroo.
These sets have several different styles of connectors, but they are all the same burgundy Indian tan leather. If you would rather have a black, dark brown or tan connector, just let me know and I can swith to a different color. This photo also gives a good view of the the roundness of the reins and the shape of the romal.. |
|
I have three pair of these rounded leather reins and romal with Vince Donley
rawhide knots. These are our standard reins as described above, but I asked
Vince to fancy them up a bit with some knots.

Close-up of knots at top of reins and romal.
Here's something anyone with a good set of reins and romal can use. At
the top is a leather connector to attach reins to the romal. This is much
more flexible than a short rawhide connector (and will last longer too).
At bottom are connectors to attach rawhide reins to rein chains. The
leather connectors prevent wear and tear on your good rawhide reins since
the leather rather than the rawhide is in contact with the metal chains.
Both items button on easily and require no knot tying knowledge. We have
these available in tan, burgundy, dark brown and black. Reins to Romal Connector-

Here's a photo of the reins to rein chain connectors in use.

Ray Holes' Vaquero Rawhide Cream is the best rawhide cleaner and conditioner
we have found. It doesn't take a lot of product to do your rawhide gear a
lot of good. Braided rawhide should be conditioned whenever the edges of the
braided string begin to feel rough or start to look fuzzy.

Shy made up a variety of shaped and lined
slobber straps a couple of weeks ago. These are all made of the same Wickett
and Craig English bridle leather as our headstalls. All of these are lined
with a water-resistant lining leather for long wear and sewn with matching
thread.
Keep in mind that slobber straps should be checked periodically for wear and be replaced when the leather starts cracking or thinning at the snaffle rings. If your slobber strap breaks at the wrong time, things can get western in a hurry. |

colors and both 5/8" and 3/4" widths on hand for immediate

call to check on availability.

Leather ties secure the browband and attach the headstall to the bit. We also have a good supply of straight, unlined slobber straps to match these headstalls. |

Here's what I'm calling A Little of This and That for lack of a better description. Necessities, frivolities and things that can be just plain handy are here.
These horn wraps are an unusual smooth
"mulehide" material that is rough on one side and smooth on the
other. These
wraps have skived edges for a smooth fit and are ready to go on your saddle.
Horn wraps are one of those things that need to be replaced from time to
time. I have a number of these available for immediate shipment. Some are 1-3/4"
wide and the rest are 2". They average 6-1/2' long. please let me know
if you need a specific length and I will sort one out for you.
2"- $25 |

Hial Steele made this stock whip out of durable Indian tan
leather. Hial makes some of the nicest cowhide stock whips I've seen lately.
They are very smooth and have lots of life. The braided portion is 7'3"
long and the fall and cracker are a little over 3' long. So the total whip
length is a little over 10' not including the handle. The turned wood handle
adds another 19" to the whip.

When bridle silver isn't on a headstall, it's easy to misplace. Use this
little concho keeper to securely keep it together until you have a bridle to
put it on. It holds loop back conchos up to 2-3/4" and screw back
conchos up to 1-1/4" without any problem. A leather strap goes across
the back from one screw, through the bridle loops and to the other screw to
hold it all together. The conchos shown are not included, but are 5/8"
and 1-3/4" for size reference.
$6 |
|
Anyone who has a headstall with loose browband conchos could use a few of these. As
headstalls get worn, conchos with a deep loop begin to slide the browband
down toward the cheek. If you aren't careful, pretty soon the browband is
somewhere down by the horse's eye when you bridle up. It's downright
annoying for both horse and rider. These little concho tighteners solve the
problem. Just slip the tightener inside the loop and put the concho back on
the headstall. If one doesn't make things tight enough, stack another one
in. Please let us select the color for you.
A detailed instruction card is included, but the silver concho in the photo is not. $.25 for 2 pair or eight pair for $1 |
